SMLIGHT SLZB-Ultima3 Multi-Radio Smart Home Hub

Build a flexible, local-first smart home with the SMLIGHT SLZB-Ultima3, a modular multi-radio hub designed for advanced Home Assistant users, smart-home enthusiasts, developers and system integrators. It combines dedicated Zigbee/Thread radio hardware with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth through an ESP32-S3, plus 100 Mb Ethernet, USB host connectivity, IR control and expansion interfaces.

Multi-Protocol Smart Home Connectivity

The SLZB-Ultima3 is designed for smart-home installations that use several communication technologies. Its two dedicated radio chips can be used for Zigbee and Thread networking, while the ESP32-S3 provides 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The device can be integrated with Home Assistant and supports Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA.

Dual Dedicated Zigbee and Thread Radios

The hub uses a Silicon Labs EFR32MG24 radio and a Texas Instruments CC2674P10 radio. Depending on the configuration, these radios can be used as Zigbee Coordinators, Zigbee Routers or OpenThread Border Routers, allowing separate Zigbee or Thread networks to be built on dedicated radio hardware.

ESP32-S3 with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

An Espressif ESP32-S3 provides the main processing platform together with built-in 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. When compatible ESPHome firmware is used, the Bluetooth capability can provide Bluetooth Proxy functionality for Home Assistant.

Ethernet, USB and Expansion

The SLZB-Ultima3 includes 100 Mb Ethernet and a dedicated USB host interface for compatible external radios and peripherals. GPIO and I²C interfaces provide additional options for compatible sensors, UPS systems and custom hardware projects.

Optional Expansion Modules

The modular design supports optional add-ons including PoE, Z-Wave 800, 4G/LTE and a microphone module. These options allow the hub to be adapted for different installations and connectivity requirements.

Infrared Control

Built-in IR reception and transmission allows compatible infrared equipment such as TVs, air conditioners, projectors and AV equipment to be integrated into smart-home automations.

Local-First Smart Home Operation

SLZB-OS provides a web interface with features such as OTA firmware updates, WireGuard VPN, DDNS, local automations and an internal Zigbee Hub mode. ESPHome is also supported for compatible use cases, including Bluetooth Proxy, IR, LEDs, buttons, buzzer and GPIO functions.

Home Assistant, Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA

The SLZB-Ultima3 is designed to work with Home Assistant environments and supports Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA. SMLIGHT also provides an official Home Assistant integration for local device management, diagnostics and firmware-related functions.
