SMLIGHT SLZB-06Mg24U Zigbee & Thread Adapter

The SMLIGHT SLZB-06Mg24U is a network-connected Zigbee and Thread adapter designed to connect smart-home devices to platforms such as Home Assistant. It uses the Silicon Labs EFR32MG24 radio SoC and provides Ethernet, Wi-Fi and USB connectivity, with power available through 802.3af PoE or USB-C. The device ships pre-flashed with SMLIGHT firmware and can be configured through its web interface.

Powerful EFR32MG24 Zigbee Radio

The SLZB-06Mg24U is built around the Silicon Labs EFR32MG24 radio SoC, supporting Zigbee 3.0 and Thread 1.3. The current SMLIGHT documentation lists the MG24 model with capacity for up to 350 connected Zigbee end devices, depending on network design and configuration.

Ethernet, Wi-Fi and USB Connectivity

Use the adapter over Ethernet, Wi-Fi or USB depending on your smart-home setup. Its Ethernet-first design allows the coordinator to be placed away from the Home Assistant or other server, helping you position the Zigbee or Thread radio where network coverage is more suitable.

PoE or USB-C Power

The SLZB-06Mg24U supports IEEE 802.3af PoE and USB-C 5V power. Ethernet and USB-C can be connected at the same time, with the device designed to provide electrical isolation between the interfaces.

Zigbee Coordinator, Router and Matter-over-Thread

The SLZB-06Mg24U can operate as a Zigbee coordinator or router and can also be used as a Matter-over-Thread border router through the SMLIGHT software stack. The operating mode can be changed through the web interface.

Home Assistant, Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA Compatibility

The adapter is designed for smart-home integrations including Home Assistant, Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA. It can forward Zigbee or Thread communications over the network, allowing the coordinator to be located independently from the host system.

SLZB-OS and Remote Firmware Updates

The device ships with SMLIGHT's SLZB-OS. The web interface provides configuration and firmware-management functions, including over-the-air updates. SMLIGHT also documents support for ESPHome and additional firmware options.

USB Passthrough

The SLZB-06Mg24U supports USB passthrough, allowing compatible external USB serial adapters to be exposed over the network through the device.

External Antenna and Compact Design

The adapter includes a rotatable L-I-shaped external antenna rated at +5 dB for Zigbee/Thread and has a compact 160 × 24 × 28 mm body weighing approximately 86 g. The device also includes four LEDs and a physical button for status and control functions.
