The Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus V2 is a powerful and versatile universal Zigbee Gateway that will help automate your smart home devices using the popular Zigbee protocol. This is the latest model as of August 2022, and it replaces the older ZBDongle-P model with a smaller and more compact design.
This dongle is compatible with a wide range of popular smart home automation platforms, including Home Assistant, OpenHAB and Domoticz. It can be used with Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA. This allows you to easily control and automate your devices without the need for vendor-specific gateway devices. It works great with most Zigbee devices, including popular brands like Sonoff, Aqara, Philips Hue, Huawei, IKEA, Tuya, and many more.
Using community built firmware this device can also support Matter and Thread on Home Assistant, you can find more details in our blog post on this. This support is currently considered experimental, but will mature over the coming months.
The dongle is based on the Silicon Labs Mighty Gecko EFR32MG21 Zigbee chipset, which is also used in other popular smart home devices such as the Sonoff ZBBridge, Home Assistant Yellow, and Home Assistant SkyConnect. This means that it will enjoy great driver support on all major automation platforms. To improve performance of your Zigbee network, it is strongly recommended to use a USB extension cable to reduce any interference from the host computer. This will help to ensure a stable and reliable connection to your Zigbee devices.
Finally, it can also be flashed with router firmware and be used to extend the range and device capacity of your network. This allows you to expand your Zigbee mesh network and connect more devices, and improve signal quality in the furthest corners of your home.
